At Maldon Eye Clinic, we provide comprehensive glaucoma assessment and management by a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in glaucoma care.
Glaucoma is a common eye condition that can damage the optic nerve, often due to raised eye pressure. In its early stages, glaucoma may not cause symptoms, but if left untreated it can lead to permanent loss of vision. Early diagnosis and careful monitoring are essential to protect sight.
Comprehensive Glaucoma Assessment
Your consultation includes a detailed assessment tailored to your individual needs. This may include:
- Measurement of eye pressure
- Detailed examination of the optic nerve
- Assessment of the drainage angle of the eye
- Review of previous eye history and medications
- Personalised treatment and monitoring plan
We work closely with our experienced on-site optometrist, who performs advanced diagnostic testing including:
Visual Field Testing
Visual field testing assesses your peripheral vision and helps detect functional changes caused by glaucoma.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Scan
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) provides detailed imaging of the optic nerve and retinal nerve fibre layer, allowing early detection and precise monitoring of glaucoma progression.
SLT Laser Treatment for Glaucoma
Maldon Eye Clinic also offers Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), an effective laser treatment used to lower eye pressure in patients with glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
SLT works by improving fluid drainage from the eye and may:
- Reduce dependence on glaucoma eye drops
- Delay the need for further treatment
- Provide long-lasting pressure control
The procedure is performed in the clinic, usually takes only a few minutes, and does not require surgery or stitches.
Personalised Specialist Care
Every patient receives an individualised approach based on their eye condition, test results, lifestyle, and long-term visual needs. Our aim is to provide high-quality specialist glaucoma care in a professional and comfortable setting.
If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma, have raised eye pressure, a family history of glaucoma, or concerns about your vision, we would be pleased to assess you at Maldon Eye Clinic.
